LIFE UPDATE

Hello!

I’ve been doing this whole blog thing for around two and a half months and it’s fun and all, but I feel like I haven’t really shown my personality or my life or anything in between, so here we are today! I thought it’d be cool to kind of chat about what’s happening in this fun thing we call life and such. Be prepared for a chill post today filled with fun info and exciting facts (also prepare to be disappointed because I have no exciting facts).

So as you’re reading this I more than likely will have only 2 weeks left in school! That’s exciting and I’m so ready to be just a tad bit less stressed throughout the summer! If you are not aware, I’m currently a part-time student at a local community college and virtually am just trying to not get super far behind in my studies while also having multiple “jobs”. The reason for the quotations is because technically I’m only employed at one place, which is a bridal boutique that I freaking adore so much, but I also do wedding videography and, for obvious reasons, run a blog. I have just about 16 weddings this year, so that’s going to take up a pretty thick chunk of my time and thus I’m able to basically consider it a second job. I don’t consider my blog a job yet, though. But, in the future, I would love to have this as a fun side job along with my full-time position, which I hope is in the marketing field (lets cross our fingers and toes).

Currently, I’m in school for Business Administration, but I’m unsure if I want to keep going and get an associate’s degree or transfer to a bigger university and get my bachelor’s in Marketing. The positive part of staying at home as long as possible is that I pay less money in the long run and I can keep my current job. But, the downfall is that I wouldn’t even transfer for another 2 years and honestly I don’t think I can wait that long! haha. You guys should give me your feedback and lemme know if I should wait it out or transfer next spring to a University!

Now let’s get into the nitty gritty that stresses me out every waking second of the day; my future!!! yay!!! (too much sarcasm?) When talking about the future, I really want to go into marketing, like I said above, and hopefully get into the corporate retail division. Basically, I want to work in a big city and for a company I fully support and wear their products. I just feel like I’ll do a much more creative job and work to my fullest potential if it’s somewhat in the fashion field.

Now with the blog, I really want to keep going with this as much as possible and hopefully make this an actual job. I do this all in my free time and don’t get paid for anything, so in the future I hope I can gain a little bit of an income for doing something I love! I know it sounds super basic and whatnot, but I just have to embrace that I’m a basic human. I would also love to maybe start producing youtube videos that aren’t necessarily weddings. Don’t get me wrong, weddings are super fun to shoot and edit, but I have ten times more fun producing content that revolves around things I love and sharing my life with all my fellow humans! Who knows, those are just goals, but a girl can dream, right?!

On the bright side, I have a few awesome trips coming up! In about the middle of May, my family and I are traveling to Boca Raton, FL to shoot a wedding! We have one day just to ourselves, so hopefully I can walk around and shoot some fun content! I’m pretty busy in June, so I hopefully just want to travel to Indianapolis a few times just to explore like usual and eat bomb food. There’s just something about Indy that makes it not basically in my backyard. Then, in July, I’m so pumped because I get to visit my best friend in Maryland! She’s coming to the Fort at the end of June and then I’m hopping in her car and am going back to her humble home for a week. Maryland has basically become a home away from home to me so I’ll always have a place in my heart for the environment and people in that wonderful place! I know my parents and I were talking about hopefully sliding in a short trip to Toronto before I start school again in the fall, but I guess we’ll just wait and see!

So there’s a little update on my crazy and stressful life! But, I want to get to know all my readers, too! comment under this post one fun fact about yourself and we can have a little fun conversation down below! Also, if you have any other questions or things you wanna know about me I’m a completely open book and would love to answer anything! Have a great rest of your week, guys!

(also ignore any of the typos I might have in this post, I’m writing this at midnight and have so many other things to do that I didn’t have time to proofread this. Professionalism.)

AN AFTERNOON IN FOLEY

Usually, when we go on spring break, we arrive on Saturday and spend about a week at the beach and exploring one of my family’s favorite places. This year, though, we decided we needed more time soaking in the sun and opted to leave for vacay late Wednesday afternoon. So, with the two extra days we gained, we decided to explore the city of Foley, AL, which is just about 20 minutes from Orange Beach.

The first place we had to scope out was The Drowsy Poet. After meeting the owner, we soon found out that he’s actually a hoosier native, too. (what a coinkadink!) He had just opened the business about two months prior to us coming there, which you couldn’t notice at all from how established it looked. This place basically meets every Instagrammer’s aesthetic needs. I mean, it was built from an old gas station so anywhere is a shootable location. All their drinks were named after old poets or poems, too, which makes it like ten times better.

After walking around a little bit, we walked into a huge two-story antique shop. My mom and I love to just window shop and look at all the trinkets, so we spent almost an hour just looking around.

There was just so much beautiful historic architecture in this quaint little town that made me fall completely in love with it. Every corner you turned, there was a wall full of vines or a group of just-bloomed flowers. Basically, if you ever find yourself in southern Alabama and want a little getaway from reality, I would highly recommend visiting Foley.

SHEIN: IS IT WORTH IT?

I asked a few weeks ago on Instagram if you guys would want me to do a little review of Shein and say if I think it’s worth buying from or not, so here we are today chatting about the pros and cons of this popular (and cheap) online clothing site.

If you aren’t aware of what Shein is, here’s a link to their website. Basically, it’s an online clothing and accessory store that has a too good to be true price range. Shirts can be as cheap as 6 dollars, which might have some people question the quality and if they’re getting the actual product they’re showing. In the past few months, I’ve compiled about ten different items from Shein and I can honestly say I have mixed reviews. Below, I have a brief explanation about each product I purchased, but if you don’t really care to read all the reviews, moral of the story is that it all depends on the product. You’re ultimately paying for quality, and shouldn’t expect the best material on let’s say a $10.00 pair of shoes.

The shirts that I purchased are probably the best quality things I have purchased from this website. Though the quality is not ideal, they look great in pictures. I’m not one to care about if something is made with a certain material or not, as long as it’s (somewhat) comfy and cheap I’m content.

Okay, these are great and all, but if you wear the wrong pair of underwear everything shows. I mean, you should kind of expect that seeing they were priced at $14.00, but if you only like high-quality leggings, Shein would definitely not be your place to buy them. I liked these leggings because 1. they were purple and 2. I’ve been looking for leggings that wrapped at the bottom like these did and all of them were way over $50.00. I don’t like to splurge on things that might be in style for only a few months, so I resulted in these. I wear them pretty consistently, but they aren’t my go-to pair at all.

Out of all things I have purchased from Shein, swimwear is probably the worst thing to buy (and honestly not worth your money). Unless you’re a perfect size in both tops and bottoms, none of these will work. I’m normally a small/medium in tops and always a medium in bottoms. Shein doesn’t give you the option to order different sizes in tops and bottoms, so that was already a con. I even had my mom measure me to see what size I would fit into based off the chart they included, but it still didn’t end successful. The material is horrible (expected), the sizing is not close at all, and the bra pads are so noticeable that I take them out right when the swimsuits arrives. After that whole spiel, I can be lenient and say that it’s a hit or miss. I’ve bought four suits from Shein and 2 out of the 4 I can say are good enough that I’d feel comfortable wearing them on the beach. The other two would be cute for a picture or two, but not at all for a whole day in the sun.

I laugh every time I see the dresses I’ve gotten from Shein. They’re mostly either in the back of my closet, hidden somewhere, or thrown away. I took pictures of two of them, which are categorized under the “hidden somewhere” category. I tried to show how horrible the fit was, and it was almost impossible to get a shot without me laughing in embarrassment thinking why buying these was a good idea. I know I said earlier that i’m not one to complain about quality, but these were bad quality. Taking a complete 180 from that statement, I just purchased a maxi dress from them right before writing this post for spring break and I think my mouth about dropped to the ground when I saw how beautiful it was on. Check out my Insta if you want to know how the dress looked! Moral of the story is that I wouldn’t say not to buy their dresses, but to just check reviews and if the price seems too good to be true, it is.

Hopefully y’all were able to get (somewhat) of a better idea on how to shop on Shein. If I had to rate my experience on their website, I would honestly give it a 8/10. I know my reviews were pretty harsh and don’t equal up to the rating, but from the things I have liked and some of my friends experiences as well, It isn’t a horrible website. I would just say to be a tad bit cautious and always. check. reviews. Measure yourself in your bust, hips, and waist so you absolutely know you are getting the right size. Their sizing is a lot different than what you would buy in a normal store, so what you think is a medium might fit like an extra small.

If any of you have ever shopped on Shein and have an experience or opinion to share, please feel free to comment below! I’m just one voice, so seeing what other people think might help others that are hesitant about shopping on the popular site.
