This post is basically going to be reasons why I love my birth giver. Happy Mothers Day to all those workin’ girl bosses out there. Today is for you! Relax, go enjoy the day, or… More
Usually, when we go on spring break, we arrive on Saturday and spend about a week at the beach and exploring one of my family’s favorite places. This year, though, we decided we needed more time soaking in the sun and opted to leave for vacay late Wednesday afternoon. So, with the two extra days we gained, we decided to explore the city of Foley, AL, which is just about 20 minutes from Orange Beach.
The first place we had to scope out was The Drowsy Poet. After meeting the owner, we soon found out that he’s actually a hoosier native, too. (what a coinkadink!) He had just opened the business about two months prior to us coming there, which you couldn’t notice at all from how established it looked. This place basically meets every Instagrammer’s aesthetic needs. I mean, it was built from an old gas station so anywhere is a shootable location. All their drinks were named after old poets or poems, too, which makes it like ten times better.
After walking around a little bit, we walked into a huge two-story antique shop. My mom and I love to just window shop and look at all the trinkets, so we spent almost an hour just looking around.
There was just so much beautiful historic architecture in this quaint little town that made me fall completely in love with it. Every corner you turned, there was a wall full of vines or a group of just-bloomed flowers. Basically, if you ever find yourself in southern Alabama and want a little getaway from reality, I would highly recommend visiting Foley.
I asked a few weeks ago on Instagram if you guys would want me to do a little review of Shein and say if I think it’s worth buying from or not, so here we are today chatting about the pros and cons of this popular (and cheap) online clothing site.
If you aren’t aware of what Shein is, here’s a link to their website. Basically, it’s an online clothing and accessory store that has a too good to be true price range. Shirts can be as cheap as 6 dollars, which might have some people question the quality and if they’re getting the actual product they’re showing. In the past few months, I’ve compiled about ten different items from Shein and I can honestly say I have mixed reviews. Below, I have a brief explanation about each product I purchased, but if you don’t really care to read all the reviews, moral of the story is that it all depends on the product. You’re ultimately paying for quality, and shouldn’t expect the best material on let’s say a $10.00 pair of shoes.
S H I R T S
The shirts that I purchased are probably the best quality things I have purchased from this website. Though the quality is not ideal, they look great in pictures. I’m not one to care about if something is made with a certain material or not, as long as it’s (somewhat) comfy and cheap I’m content.
L E G G I N G S
Okay, these are great and all, but if you wear the wrong pair of underwear everything shows. I mean, you should kind of expect that seeing they were priced at $14.00, but if you only like high-quality leggings, Shein would definitely not be your place to buy them. I liked these leggings because 1. they were purple and 2. I’ve been looking for leggings that wrapped at the bottom like these did and all of them were way over $50.00. I don’t like to splurge on things that might be in style for only a few months, so I resulted in these. I wear them pretty consistently, but they aren’t my go-to pair at all.
S W I M W E A R
Out of all things I have purchased from Shein, swimwear is probably the worst thing to buy (and honestly not worth your money). Unless you’re a perfect size in both tops and bottoms, none of these will work. I’m normally a small/medium in tops and always a medium in bottoms. Shein doesn’t give you the option to order different sizes in tops and bottoms, so that was already a con. I even had my mom measure me to see what size I would fit into based off the chart they included, but it still didn’t end successful. The material is horrible (expected), the sizing is not close at all, and the bra pads are so noticeable that I take them out right when the swimsuits arrives. After that whole spiel, I can be lenient and say that it’s a hit or miss. I’ve bought four suits from Shein and 2 out of the 4 I can say are good enough that I’d feel comfortable wearing them on the beach. The other two would be cute for a picture or two, but not at all for a whole day in the sun.
D R E S S E S
I laugh every time I see the dresses I’ve gotten from Shein. They’re mostly either in the back of my closet, hidden somewhere, or thrown away. I took pictures of two of them, which are categorized under the “hidden somewhere” category. I tried to show how horrible the fit was, and it was almost impossible to get a shot without me laughing in embarrassment thinking why buying these was a good idea. I know I said earlier that i’m not one to complain about quality, but these were bad quality. Taking a complete 180 from that statement, I just purchased a maxi dress from them right before writing this post for spring break and I think my mouth about dropped to the ground when I saw how beautiful it was on. Check out my Insta if you want to know how the dress looked! Moral of the story is that I wouldn’t say not to buy their dresses, but to just check reviews and if the price seems too good to be true, it is.
Hopefully y’all were able to get (somewhat) of a better idea on how to shop on Shein. If I had to rate my experience on their website, I would honestly give it a 8/10. I know my reviews were pretty harsh and don’t equal up to the rating, but from the things I have liked and some of my friends experiences as well, It isn’t a horrible website. I would just say to be a tad bit cautious and always. check. reviews. Measure yourself in your bust, hips, and waist so you absolutely know you are getting the right size. Their sizing is a lot different than what you would buy in a normal store, so what you think is a medium might fit like an extra small.
If any of you have ever shopped on Shein and have an experience or opinion to share, please feel free to comment below! I’m just one voice, so seeing what other people think might help others that are hesitant about shopping on the popular site.
I cannot contain my excitement as I’m writing this because I leave for spring break in less than a week! My to-do list may be a little extensive, but that won’t stop me from still posting a weekly blog post! I’m hoping that while I’m on spring break I can get a lot of awesome pictures for future posts and Instagram! But for now, I’m sharing my favorite songs of the moment that I’ll most likely be listening to while laying on the beach. Enjoy!
This month I feel like I have been discovering more and more “Insta bloggers” and have completely fallen in love with them. Whether It is their aesthetic, the way they present themselves, or how fashion-forward their looks are, they’re all just so much fun to admire and look at! It’s also a plus when I can get a little inspiration from them.
This week I’m a little busy with wedding editing (a blog post on that is coming soon!) and school so I thought instead of just skipping this week I’d compile a little list of my top ten Instagram’s of the month! Enjoy and have a great week !! 🙂
I think I love this blogger because her style is probably closest to mine. I also love all of the bright and bold colors on her profile and the fact that she lives in Richmond (which is a place I so want to travel to.) If you love a classic preppy look, I’d go give her a follow!
Abigail W. (@belleoftheball45)
Abigail is definitely one of the reasons why I wanted to get into blogging in the first place. Like, circa over a year ago when Touch of Blush was basically inexistent. I remember always stalking her Instagram wondering how I could possibly have a similar style to hers, and still to this day she’s one of my favorite bloggers. If you love the New England style like myself, I would one hundred percent recommend looking at her profile!
Aspyn Ovard (@aspynovard)
I found Aspyn through youtube like four years ago and she’s been my favorite ever since! Her Instagram is everything I wish mine was, too, but like better. I’d love to travel when I get done with school, so seeing all of her travel posts inspires me even more to go out and explore! If you don’t already follow Aspyn, do it. Like now.
Caitlin is all thing Insta goals. First, her hair is so. voluminous. like I wish my hair looked like that (don’t we all?) And I love how bold and fun her pics are. She makes me want to go on vacation everyday and wear cute little bathing suits. This profile is the one for you if you love southern charm, bold styles, and a girly flair.
Allison Schaper (@allisonschaper)
Allison’s feed and aesthetic is so fun and pink I could stare at it everyday! Some reasons why she’s one of my fav Insta girls is because she is Disney obsessed (as am I), loves taking pics of her food and coffee, and loves the color pink (I mean, my blog is called a Touch of Blush so..) If you love all-things aesthetically pleasing and girly, Allison is the gal for you!
Taylor Eldridge (@allthingstaylored)
I just discovered Taylor’s account not that long ago and her posts have gotten better and better since! She’s started to merge into the whole aesthetic game and has taken an orange and blue-tinted theme. Her pics are also super crisp and bold and her style is kind of what inspires my posts. She may not be that big of a blogger now, but give her some time and she’ll be killin’ the game with the big dogs!
Olivia Rink (@oliviarink)
I can’t even describe how obsessed I am with Olivia’s profile. First, she’s a petite fashion and lifestyle blogger, which is 110% me because #shortlegscrew. She was also a former University of Kentucky cheerleader, and seeing that I spent over half my life cheering, I gotta support another fellow gal. Her city style is also so cute and trendy I’m in love! Her photographer is another reason why I love her pics, especially recently. Her Insta is @aesthetiica and her pictures are like no one else’s! So moral of the story is check both of their accounts out!
Emily Herren (@champagneandchanel)
Emily is another gal that I had just discovered recently. I just love how her Instagram is specifically for her everyday styles and it doesn’t seem super posed or anything like that. Sometimes I just want fashion inspiration without the heavy edits and stuff, and Emily gives her followers just that. It’s one thing that we have the same names, but her Texas accent and southern roots wins me over! Go follow her!
Jaci Marie (@jacimariesmith)
I think ever since I got big into the Instagram game, I’ve been following Jaci. Her posts are just so freaking awesome I admire them every time I’m scrolling through my feeds. Her and her husband are hashtag goals and she’s best friends with another one of my faves, Aspyn! Their feeds are really similar so if you’re already following Aspyn, go follow Jaci, too!!
Krystal Faircloth (@apinchoflovely)
Krystal is probably the closest profile to my own style. I have bookmarked most of her photos so I can look back at them for inspiration. Her pastel Insta and girly trends are spot on for what I hope to be like in the future with my own profile! If you don’t follow her now, you’ll definitely regret it!
Now, before you start reading this post, be aware that I am the least professional when it comes to putting on makeup and how to apply it and whatnot. This post is for those people who are in the same boat as I am and want to know some good-ish products that I use basically every day of my life.
Like always, I’ll have the products tagged below so you can be twinzies with me and we can suck at makeup together. Enjoy :))))))))))))))))

If someone asked me to do this blog post a year ago I would literally laugh at you because my work attire would usually consist of leggings, an old t-shirt with espresso stains on it, and a warn out pair of white converse high tops. I know, I know… I had a great fashion sense. I would try to wear cute-ish clothes, but then by the end of the day I would be wearing every ingredient available. But, here I am today writing this post because I’m finally at a job where I can finally dress like myself!
If any of you didn’t know, I currently work at a local bridal shop a few days a week and absolutely love it. I’ve been able to become a little more creative when it comes to my fashion sense and I’ve decided to share a little bit of my business-casual outfits with all of you!
Most of these pieces were bought years ago so I’ll try my best to find and tag whatever I can find! And also shoutout to Riley for being awesome and letting me bombard her closet and borrow some of my fav pieces of hers, you rock.
I’ve decided to categorize the four outfits based on different styles, so therefore:
OUTFIT 1: The Preppy/Classic Girl
OUTFIT 2: The Sophisticated/ Glamorous Girl
OUTFIT 3: The Flirty/ Easygoing Girl
OUTFIT 4: The Dressy/ Edgy Girl

So I was thinking it could be really cool if I posted a seasonal wishlist every season of the year! And then the next time I post a wishlist I reflect and see if I actually ended up investing in one or more of the items below! Everything that I have in the picture will also be linked below if any of you guys like what I like this season! Also, comment down below what your faves this season are, too! I’d love to see what all of you guys love!
Gucci Belt | Ray Bans | Mules | Kate Spade Bag | YSL Lipstick | Burberry Scarf | Pandora Princess Ring | Adidas Sneakers | Trench Coat | Bell-Sleeve Sweater | Kendra Scott Ring | Mini Ark Handbag | Blush Fur Coat |
I think that everyone always has the new years resolution of getting in shape (myself included.) The only downside of that is, well, we actually have to go to the gym. Well fear me not, I have discovered ways that you can workout without it “feeling” like you’re actually working out! Some of these are a no-brainer, but I have gotten to the point that working out at a gym isn’t motivating to me. I know there are some lucky people out there that can just wake up and force themselves to go to the gym, but there are other people like me that would rather just sleep in and “start tomorrow ” (let’s be honest, we never actually start the next day.) But below I have comprised a short list of a few fun activities that can take place of a traditional workout! You can thank me later.
I cannot even express how much I love yoga. First, I was in competitive cheerleading basically half my life, so yoga is kind of second nature for me when it comes to flexibility and balance. Second, the atmosphere is so relaxing and makes you so excited to start class! (and it smells like lavender, like what could be any better than that?!) If school or work is stressing you out, after one yoga class you will feel so much better, i guarantee it! In these pictures i’m doing yoga at home, but I would recommend going to an actual studio. It’s a lot easier to not be as focused when you’re at home than in public.
This is a workout that I haven’t done in quite some time, but after one class you will literally feel like a new human. The way that they stretch you and move your muscles is unexplainable, seriously! It’s so hard to actually explain unless you physically take a class yourself. So, after you’re done reading this, go and sign up for a class at your nearest pilates studio!
3. SOUL CYCLE
Of course I had to include this. I mean, soul cycle is the basic white girl of workouts, but it definitely tires you out. I unfortunately haven’t been able to actually go to a soul cycle class, seeing that they’re only available in major cities, but if you go to your local gym or YMCA, they sometimes have spin classes, which are pretty much the same as soul cycle! I have been telling myself to go do it for months but, of course, my laziness and procrastination has caught up with me and I sit at home and eat cookies instead (literally what i’m doing right now. Cookie Cottage is so hard to resist!)
4. BARRE WORKOUT
This is kind of a mixture between pilates and yoga in the sense that you basically are mirroring ballet movements and poses. If you’re more of the creative and artistic person, this may be the workout for you. It’s dance-related, so it makes it not seem so much like an actual workout, though you’ll definitely feel sore afterwards! I watched a video on some of my favorite youtubers going and attempting to do it, and as you can see they almost couldn’t finish! Long story short, you should try to find somewhere near you that offers it.
5. ORANGE THEORY
I have seen so many of the other bloggers that I follow post about how much they love this workout! So I decided to search and see if it was worth putting into this blog post, and then the best thing happened…. I FOUND OUT IT WAS OPENING IN MY HOMETOWN! As you can see I couldn’t contain my excitement. So I decided I REALLY need to research on this thing. It turns out it’s an hour long workout that gives you more energy, tones your body, and burns calories over the span of 36 hours (can I get a heck yes?) Once the one near me opens I’ll post about it and tell you guys all about my experience! Here’s a link to the website where you can learn more about it!
(I haven’t cheered in like four years so my balance isn’t the best anymore…. if you want proof look down below!!)
So i’ve had an epiphany lately. It all started when I was in the midst of completing a homework assignment. It was Sunday and the deadline for the homework was, you guessed it, that same day. I know I have no room to speak seeing that i’m only a part-time college student, but I do have my fair share of mental breakdowns when I realize I can’t do everything at once. Being a student while also having a part-time job and doing occasional wedding videography, I eventually need to learn how to manage my time, which brings us to this post!
So backtracking to my little epiphany last Sunday, I hated that I was spending all of this time on homework last minute when in reality I could’ve gotten it done in the span of the week before and would have had a plethora of time to do other things! That’s when I started to jot down a few tips and tricks that could help me manage my time while also completing all my tasks on time.
1.Keep a Planner (UPDATE AND CHECK IT REGULARLY!!!!)
It’s one thing to own a planner, but it’s another thing to regularly update it and write down everything you have to do that specific day/week. I am so guilty for writing tons of things I need to complete in my planner when i’m in class bored on Monday, but don’t even check it again until the next Monday! That would explain my procrastination and lack of knowledge on due dates. So, make it routine to check your planner everyday and write down every. singe. thing. you need to complete. It’s super easy to write something down but just not do it, so my challenge to you is to live by your planner for a week. Then, you’ll notice that you have so much free time! I feel as if we spend so much time stressing over completing our to-do list when we can just finish it and ditch the stress.
2. Don’t do everything at once!
This may not include everyone, but for me, when wedding season kicks into high gear I have a hard time deciding which one to do first: homework or editing. They both need to eventually be done, so this is where time management comes into play. Plan certain days to complete certain tasks. Make, let’s say, Tuesday your homework day and Sunday your editing day. If you don’t complete everything by the end of the day, just wait until the next week to finish it, unless a due date is sooner. You’ll see a significant amount of stress come out of your body by doing this. Instead of thinking about editing and homework every waking second of the day, I can actually enjoy the rest of my week by doing other things that I like to do; like blogging, reading, and exploring my town for example.
3. Multi-Task (Bear with me)
Some of you probably read the heading and thought I was stupid. But, fear me not, I have found a way, after a couple years, to make it feel like you aren’t doing work when you really are. So basically, you can mix in your leisure time with your study time. What usually works best for me is to go to coffee shops. Whenever I’m in a coffee shop environment, I instantly get the motivation to complete everything. I invite some of my friends to join, grab my favorite drink of the moment, and study away. By the end of the session, i’m able to do most of my homework without the stress and headache that I would usually have had I decided to stay home. See? multi-tasking isn’t TOOO bad.
I hope this helps you combat the college student stress. Trust me when I say this; everyone is in the same boat you are. If you’re on the verge of a mental breakdown, I am 100% positive there is someone that wouldn’t mind listening to you vent and rant. Sometimes, that’s all you need to do before feeling at least a little bit better. If you have any comments or questions please feel free to contact me!
It’s that time of the year again ladies, and shockingly, i’m single! (hopefully you could feel the sarcasm in that statement) But, I am not alone. Alas, I have comprised a short list of things you could do with your gal pals on the infamous day of love. I plan on doing at least one of these when the 14th comes (i’ll make sure to document it), but I would love to see if any of you guys do anything! Feel free to tag me on any of your pics with your ride or dies and i’ll show them on my insta story! Happy Galentine’s Day, y’all!!!
1. Go See A Movie!
My girlfriends and I for the past two years have always gone to see 50 Shades of Grey on (or near) Valentine’s Day. Make a new tradition with your gals! There are so many good romantic films being released that you could definitely go see! …And it gives you a good excuse to indulge in all the popcorn you can fit in your mouth.
2. Dress Up and Go To A Fancy Dinner
I don’t know about you, but I love when all my friends come over to my house and get ready together. I think it’s such a nice bonding moment! Take this holiday to show off your “date(s).” Who says you need a boyfriend to go on dates? Though you may be surrounded by other couples in the restaurant, enjoy your night with your babes! Maybe make an ice cream run afterwards and have a sleepover!
3. Have a “Spa Night”
It doesn’t even have to be Valentine’s Day to do this, but just treat yourself. Make a nice bath, throw in a bath bomb, and light some candles while relaxing in a cooling face mask. Read a book or watch a Netflix rom-com while just celebrating YOU. Go beforehand and grab some chocolate and devour yourself in a few bites of deliciousness, too! Valentine’s Day is just about love, so why not love yourself? We are independent women who don’t need no man to complete us! *insert sassy emoji*
For some reason I couldn’t find the t-shirt, but it’s from Target !
